The Nano-Lok SRL range can be used in place of lanyards and can be directly attached to any harness, reducing fall clearances. The SRLs are virtually unnoticeable to the user when worn and provide worksite flexibility.
In March 2012, a worker was fatally injured by a falling load while erecting a transmission tower west of Dalby in Queensland. A 20-tonne rough terrain mobile crane was being used to lift part of the tower when it appears the auxiliary winch inadvertently went into free fall and the load fell, striking the worker. Following the incident, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) has issued a safety alert to highlight the importance of correctly locking out the free fall controls on mobile cranes fitted with this feature.
Forklift accidents are an ever-present risk where workers, pedestrians or unauthorised vehicles unwittingly cross into loading and unloading workspaces. Cable Gate is a remotely operated barrier that drops in 0.5 s and automatically rises once the forklift has passed through.
The Delta II fall protection full body harnesses build on the existing line’s feature set that incorporates the No-Tangle design, stand-up spring-loaded dorsal D-ring, velcro covered label pack that protects the new permanent indented print labels and i-Safe.
The Customfix anchor point, from Safemaster, is designed to be used specifically on corrugated roof sheeting, as this sheeting is commonly used on pitches over 20° and is therefore visible from the ground.
There currently exists much inconsistency and regulatory burden across state boundaries with regard to workplace health and safety legislation. While the federal government has proposed ‘harmonisation’ of the legislation, there is still some confusion around the timing of the full implementation of the proposal. The slipping timescale should not be used as an excuse to delay the implementation of the intent of the new legislation.
Capital Safety has announced the launch of a range of ladder levelling and stabilising devices from Rojak Design. The range provides fall protection and height safety on portable ladders by converting them into a safer work and access system.
Logic Lift scissor lifts have an automatic load height detection system, using an electric eye to scan the load height in view of automatically maintaining the optimum working height for the operator of the lifts.
Capital Safety has announced the launch of its DBI-Sala Delta Repel Breathing Apparatus (BA) full body harness range. The harnesses provide fall and breathing protection for a variety of industries where workers are required to carry out activities that involve simultaneous use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full body harnesses, to protect against falls from height in contaminated atmospheres.
A multinational industrial, commercial and retail property owner engaged National Height Safety & Access Solutions (NHSAS) to audit 73 properties throughout Australia and New Zealand, to ascertain existing control measures. The audit involved a site review of existing administration processes through to the fall prevention and access systems.
Safemaster Height Safety Solutions has developed a temporary roof anchor for use on metal deck and corrugated sheeting roofs. It is suited to tradesmen who work on residential roofs which do not have permanent fall arrest systems installed.
Klinch tool tethers are a fast and efficient tool lanyard system allowing users to safely and securely carry and use tools at heights, in confined spaces and over/under water. It provides the flexibility of using multiple tools and the ability to switch the tools between hands and dock them; all the while ensuring the tools are safely connected to the user or their work platform.
