Workplace Participation Reward winner announced
Safe Work Australia has announced the 2015 Workplace Participation Reward has been awarded to Mars Petcare Australia (Wodonga site) for their demonstrated spirit, participation, creativity and sustainability during the 2015 National Safe Work Month in October.
Participating in various workshops during National Safe Work Month, photos of workers were creatively used in posters, emails and newsletters to raise awareness of workplace health and safety within their organisation.
Building on the 2015 tagline, one of the core messages used was: “If I see something is unsafe, I’m going to speak up because…mates make sure mates get home safe.”
Over 300 staff were involved with the activities, representing over half of the organisation.
For their efforts, Mars Petcare (Wodonga) will receive a prize valued at up to $5000 to be spent on an Australian work health and safety conference, expo or event based in Australia in 2016, including accommodation, airfares and ground transfers.
Mars Petcare won the award over a high-quality pool of industry talent including DHL Supply Chain, Sayfa Systems, Master Builders Association of NSW, Suncorp Group and many other workplaces across the country.
Safe Work Australia congratulated all of the participating organisations in National Safe Work Month that entered the reward competition program.
“Through your efforts you have helped to raise awareness of work health and safety around Australia,” commented the national statutory agency.
