New NT WorkSafe Executive Director commences 25 August
Grant Hastie has been appointed NT WorkSafe’s new Executive Director, commencing 25 August.
Joining from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, where he has worked since 2008 and where since 2019 he was Chief Safety Advisor and Director of the Hazardous Chemicals Unit, he’s also held the roles of Acting Executive Director of the Specialised Health and Safety Services and Acting Director of the Occupational Health and Hygiene Unit.
Hastie has been actively engaged in matters related to emerging trends of hydrogen and renewables industries as a senior member of Queensland’s Specialised Health and Safety Services Leadership Team, with his experience having been underpinned by a solid technical background.
Previously, he worked as a dangerous goods advisor and on-call HAZMAT Scientific Advisor with the Queensland Fire Department, and also an occupational and environmental scientist with Queensland’s Department of Mines and Energy.
A Master of Applied Science from the Queensland University of Technology and the Executive Master of Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government at Griffith University are among Hastie’s qualifications.
On commencement, the Attorney-General will appoint Hastie to the following statutory positions: Work Health Authority; Electrical Safety Regulator; and Chief Inspector Radioactive Ores and Concentrates.
