Events to explain new health and safety legislation prepared by WorkCover NSW

Tuesday, 08 March, 2011

WorkCover NSW will hold a series of free events to help businesses understand new work health and safety legislation.

The interactive events include 35 free workshops, a public forum and an online webinar that have been designed to outline the impact of the new laws in individual workplaces.

John Watson, General Manager of WorkCover’s Work Health and Safety Division, said the new health and safety legislation will be introduced in New South Wales from January next year under the harmonisation of existing workplace safety laws.

Draft model Work Health and Safety Regulations and priority codes of practice were released for public comment in December last year, and a public forum will be held in Parramatta to outline the draft regulations and how businesses can participate in the public comment process.

The free public workshop series will be held in multiple locations across metropolitan and regional New South Wales throughout March.
