Comcare releases suicide prevention and response guidance

Comcare has released new practical guidance designed to support employers to take a risk-based and trauma-informed approach to suicide prevention and response.

To manage risks and respond to incidents, it includes practical steps employers can take as well as:

• a definition of suicidal behaviours;
• the risk management process;
• what a positive, trauma-informed response looks like;
• incident notification requirements; and
• Comcare’s role after an incident.
   

Also described in the guidance is how employers can provide support to workers and others affected by suicidal behaviours at work.
