Asbestos workers face checks
Inspectors would make random visits to building sites to improve safety and compliance in the asbestos and demolition industry, the New South Wales Government has announced.
Commerce Minister John Della Bosca said the new initiative was part of WorkCover's program of monitoring high risk industries. "The inspectors will undertake a series of random visits to assess compliance. They will also provide advice on occupational health and safety workers' compensation. "Enforcement action will be taken wherever appropriate safety standards are not being met."
