ACT Work Safety Commissioner reappointed
On 14 January, the ACT Attorney General, Simon Corbell, announced the reappointment of MarkMcCabe as the Work Safety Commissioner and Senior Director of WorkSafe ACT.
“I am pleased to be able to announce Mr McCabe’s reappointment to this important position of Work Safety Commissioner,” Corbell said. “Mr McCabe has significant experience in workplace safety and has worked in roles in both the ACT and with Comcare, and brings a strong passion for workplace safety. Mr McCabe was first appointed as the Work Safety Commissioner in February 2008 and has successfully raised the profile of workplace safety in the ACT since then.”
The Work Safety Commissioner is responsible for promoting an understanding of workplace safety.
Following the creation of WorkSafe ACT last year, the Commissioner also took on the position of Senior Director of WorkSafe ACT in May 2009, and was appointed to the position six months later.
In this position, McCabe is responsible for ensuring that people are complying with work safety and workers compensation laws.
“I congratulate Mr McCabe on his appointment and look forward to working with him to ensure that all Canberrans are safe when they go to work,” Corbell said.
McCabe’s appointment is for a five-year period.
