Invisible pattern can put a stop to counterfeit fabrics
16 May, 2013Chalmers University of Technology researcher Christian Müller has produced a thread with unique optical properties which can be used to create invisible patterns in fabrics that are only visible under polarised light. From a long-term perspective, Christian Müller’s discovery could also be used to manufacture ‘smart textiles’, such as clothing that changes colours based on electrical charge.

New police and firefighters at higher risk of mental disorders

The researchers also found that protective services workers do not appear to have a higher prevalence of mental health problems than workers in other occupations. The study results are featured in the February 2013 issue of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness.
