Tensile testing machine

Tysci's 250 kN tensile testing machine was designed for testing straps and webbing as used in the lifting and transport industries.

A 3 m test length with dual loading systems allows straps to be tested from 2.5 to 25 kN and from 25 to 250 kN using 600 mm stroke hydraulic cylinders. Extension is measured using a potentiometer and through the data acquisition system % extension versus load is plotted.

Precision load cells measure the load and this is displayed on digital displays and through using LabVIEW a test report is generated. Control of the load is kept simple using a manually controlled relief valve and push-buttons.

Calibration of the machine was undertaken to Australian Standard AS 2193 and certified as a grade A machine on both load ranges.

As testing involves production testing it also involves destruction or proof testing. In the latter, the operator is protected using sliding polycarbonate guards electrically interlocked with the loading system.
