Elpro Technologies has announced the release of improved security features in its CyNET wireless I/O product range.
Using data encryption, Elpro's wireless products now provide improved protection against industrial espionage, hackers or anyone intending malicious damage.
Elpro's wireless products enable wireless connectivity for I&C and automation signals using the 400 and 900 MHz licence-free radio bands. The products also provide wireless inter-connectivity for databuses and fieldbuses. This security encryption uses a security 'soft-key' to encrypt the radio messages. The encryption prevents a wireless unit without the correct security key from communicating with a wireless system, protecting against theft of wireless data as well as protecting against the injection of malicious wireless commands that may cause damage to the plant.
In addition to this security feature, the products have many features designed to make wireless the preferred choice in process control and automation applications.
