Spill protection range at Safety in Action 2013

Tuesday, 19 February, 2013

Enware’s ranges of Enpac spill containment products are being introduced to help remove risks from the workplace and counter the human and financial cost of industrial accidents and incidents affecting workers and the environment .

Work-related injury and illness incidents are now estimated to cost more than $60 billion a year, according to Safe Work Australia, while financial penalties for water and air polluters can be as much as $1million for a corporation or even jail for individuals in cases of aggravated offences.

The company’s range of easily handled, relocatable spill-containment products are custom designed to protect the environment and workers from the many hazardous chemicals found in industrial, civil, municipal, mining and military applications.

“Our display will underline the leading role that Enware plays in the provision of industrial and commercial safety equipment in the emergency hazard-protection and spill-prevention categories,” said Allan Lane, business development manager, Safety for Enware Australia.

The portable spill protection solutions to be shown at Safety in Action 2013 are available in a wide range of sizes, suitable for accommodating small storage containers, up to IBC units, or even vehicles. Examples include:

  • SPILLPAL drum containment units;
  • STINGER Yellow Jacket - chemical lightweight pallets;
  • STINGER Snap-Up Berm - Hydrocarbon for large-scale immediate spill response;
  • STINGER Snap-Foam Berm – Hydrocarbon for drive-in, drive-out applications;
  • STINGER SPILLPAL instant containment berm with removable foam sidewalls.

The ranges’ enhanced chemical resistance is suitable for major sectors such as construction, defence, infrastructure engineering and mining.

The safety shower, eyewash and spill-protection technology is focused on industrial worksites where serious injury can occur if eye and skin accidents are not treated within seconds. The products are particularly applicable to mining,oil, gas, heavy engineering and energy plants.

“Experts agree the most important first aid for accidents involving eye or skin contact with injurious materials is copious water irrigation within seconds,” said Lane.

Designed and manufactured in Australia, the high-visibility showers and eyewashes have been independently tested for compliance to ANSI Z358.1-2009 and AS4775-2007 standards.

The Tobin eyewash systems, meanwhile, provide an effective, sterile and safe eyewash for industrial use, founded on the principle that an eyewash should be quick, simple and safe to use. The unique shape of the Tobin bottle ensures that even a temporarily blinded and confused person can identify it as safety eyewash. Tobin eyewash systems give the fastest possible application combined with a wash volume large enough for most eye accidents.
