New Guide Helps to Reduce Injury & Fatality in the Mining Sector

Pro-Visual Publishing in conjunction with the Minerals Industry Safety & Health Centre (MISHC) and Australian Mines & Metals Association (AMMA) has proudly released their latest edition of the Augmented Reality (AR) Mining & Quarry Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2019/20, distributed free of charge Australia wide.

The Mining Industry has the third highest fatality rate of any industry with an average of nine workers dying each year. It is therefore critical to have safety guidance readily available in the workplace to ensure efforts are put towards lowering the fatality rate for years to come.

The wall-mountable printed Guide is designed for display in an accessible place with visibility to all workers. It can also be used as a resource for safety meetings and toolbox talks, being useful to refer back to on a consistent basis to reiterate the importance of safety.

The MISHC and AMMA have worked together with Pro-Visual Publishing to provide topics on safety issues that are most important to the mining industry. These include:

  • Work Health and safety Regulations.
  • Roads and Other Vehicle Operating Areas.
  • Health Monitoring in Mining.
  • First Aid.

This year’s Guide has an AR component; a digitised feature that enhances engagement and offers an aspect of interactivity. By simply downloading the free Pro-Vis AR app and scanning over any AR capable content, workers can access further safety information straight to their smart device, for example, animations and web-links.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Mining & Quarry Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2019/20. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.”
