New Augmented Reality Guide Prompts Importance of Psychological Health for Veterinarians

Pro-Visual Publishing in conjunction with the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and the Veterinary Business Group (VBG) has proudly released their latest edition of the Augmented Reality (AR) Veterinary Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2019/20, distributed free of charge Australia wide.

The Guide is wall-mountable and designed to be displayed year-round in an easy and accessible position. By having an informative resource available all year will ensure Veterinarians are knowledgeable on critical health, safety and wellbeing issues specific to their industry to ensure they are working in a safe and healthy environment.

One of the main focuses of this year’s Guide is the psychological stressors and factors associated with working in the Veterinary Industry. The rate of depression and suicide is alarmingly high in the industry, four times more than other industries. Additionally, the combination of occupational job stress, compassion fatigue, feeling burnt out and traumatic events can all exacerbate and negatively affect mental health.

Together Pro-Visual Publishing and the AVA and VBG have carefully selected topics that address issues pertinent to the industry in regards to health and safety, which include:

  • Afterhours Safety.
  • Psychological Injury.
  • Sharps Safety.

As mentioned, the Guide features AR, a digitised feature aimed at enhancing engagement and offers an aspect of interactivity. By simply downloading the free Pro-Vis AR app and scanning over any AR capable content, Veterinarians can access further safety information straight to their smart device, for example, a video on how to safely discard used needles and informative PDF documents.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Veterinary Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2019/20. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.”
