Forest Workers to Put Safety First

Pro-Visual Publishing in conjunction with the Australian Forest Contractors Association, Australian Forest Growers, New Zealand Institute of Safety Management, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts Lawyers and Forest Industry Safety Council has proudly released their latest edition of the Augmented Reality (AR) Forestry Sector Guide to Workplace Safety AU/NZ 2019/20, distributed free of charge to Australia and New Zealand.

The wall-mountable printed Guide is to be displayed in a place where workers will have easy access to view on a regular basis. The agriculture, forestry and fishing industry accounts for one of the industries with the highest workplace injuries and fatalities with 294 workers dying between 2007–8 to 2011–12 and for New Zealand between 2011–2019 42 fatalities solely in the forestry industry. For this reason it is crucial to have safety resources available to workers as a reminder of implementing safe work practices.

Together Pro-Visual Publishing and the partnering Associations have carefully selected topics that address issues pertinent to the industry in regards to health and safety, which include:

  • Loading and Unloading Logs.
  • Emergency Plans and Procedures.
  • Working in Hot Conditions.

As mentioned, the Guide features AR, a digitised feature aimed at enhancing engagement and offers an aspect of interactivity. By simply downloading the free Pro-Vis AR app and scanning over any AR capable content, workers can access further safety information straight to their smart device, for example, videos, website links and PDF files.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Forestry Sector Guide to Workplace Safety AU/NZ 2019/20. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.”

– John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
