Confined space gas kills apprentice

An apprentice has been killed after being overcome by fumes in a confined space at Cranbourne West.

The 20-year-old worker was thought to be working with power tools inside an open-ended tank when the incident took place on Thursday, 4 October at around 10 am.

WorkSafe Victoria is investigating the incident.

The death brings the number of workplace fatalities for the year to 21, compared to 20 at this time last year.
