20 March is 'Jobs At Home Day'

Friday, 20 March marks Jobs At Home Day in Victoria. To celebrate, Victorians can create a customised sticker featuring a fun job-at-home title, such as Chief Cuppa Maker or Master of all Things Doggo — a reminder to return safely to where they are needed most. The stickers are intended to serve as a fun, wearable way to start a conversation about workplace safety. 

“We know being injured on the job changes everything at home. A workplace injury isn’t left behind when you clock off. I’m the Unpaid Uber Driver in my house, and for me that’s a pretty important reason to get home safe every day,” said Colin Radford, WorkSafe Victoria Chief Executive.

Over the last two years, almost 20,000 Victorians have partaken in Jobs At Home Day. This year, WorkSafe Victoria will host coffee carts around Melbourne and regional Victoria, providing Jobs At Home Day stickers and free coffees. Options for stickers include the Dad Joke Specialist, the Cat Scratcher Supreme and the Home Reno President.

The stickers can be displayed on laptops, hard hats, phones or notebooks. There were 24 Victorian workplace fatalities in 2019, with a further eight workplace fatalities recorded in 2020 (correct as of 28 February). “Tragically, that’s 32 people who will never get to do another job at home,” said Radford.

The free, customisable stickers can be ordered online via www.worksafe.vic.gov.au/jobs-home-day. Participants can also enter WorkSafe Victoria’s competition to win a $1000 Visa gift card. You can share your job at home by tagging @WorkSafe_Vic and using the hashtag #myjob2020.
