Safety in the Dental Industry — Don't brush it off

Safety and regularly practising it within the workplace is crucial to the health and safety of dental professionals. Working in the dental industry means there are potential hazards on a daily basis; therefore, regularly implementing up-to-date safety procedures is crucial in maintaining a safe working environment.

Pro-Visual Publishing, in cooperation with the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) Foundation, has released the 2018/19 edition of the Dental Professionals Guide to Safety & Hygiene, with interactive Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities. The guide is an essential resource aimed at protecting the health and safety of dental professionals and their patients.

This year’s Guide covers a range of topics that are crucial to the safety of workers in the dental industry which include the following:

  • Ergonomics.
  • Maintaining up-to-date skills and training.
  • Exposure to radiation.
  • Autoclave Safety.
  • Infection Control in the Clinic.
  • Personal Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment.

This year’s Guide features the exciting inclusion of AR, which allows the printed Guide to have digital interactive capabilities. By simply downloading the free Pro-Vis AR app and scanning over any AR-capable content, users can access further resources straight to their smart device. This combination of print and digital creates an interactive resource that makes revising safety information more engaging.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Dental Professionals Guide to Safety & Hygiene 2018/19. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.” – John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
