Quad Bike Safety for Cotton Farmers

Quad bikes are now the leading cause of serious injury and fatalities on Australian farms, outranking tractors by almost 2:1. Fatalities and injuries from quad bikes continue to unfortunately be on the rise; however, with the correct safety knowledge and hazard awareness, injuries and fatalities can be reduced. Raising this awareness is Pro-Visual Publishing who has released their 2018/19 edition of the Cotton Industry Guide to Safety.

A staggering 83 per cent makes up the number of quad bike fatalities involving rollovers and 57 per cent occurring on uneven ground. Ensuring cotton farmers are properly trained and aware of potential hazards before operating a quad bike is crucial in preventing injury.

Quad bike safety is one topic featured on the guide, as well as work health and safety risk management on cotton farms, MyBMP and plant and equipment safety.

This year’s Guide once again features augmented reality (AR) allowing the Guide to combine digital with print to enhance engagement and information retention on key safety issues. By simply downloading the free Pro-Vis AR app, farmers can scan over any AR capable content to access further safety resources straight to their smart device.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Cotton Industry Guide to Safety 2018/19. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.” – John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
