The DynOptic Systems DSL-1000 opacity monitor is a dust particle and smoke monitoring system designed for use in industrial applications such as combustion processors, power stations, industrial boilers, furnaces, cement works, tunnels and underground car parks.
Using light transmission opacity techniques, the instrument takes a base measurement of transmission and, from this, reports in units of percentage opacity, volumetric density, Ringelmann, MOR, extinction and various logarithmic functions.
The instrument consists of a transmitter and receiver that can be mounted on a stack using standard flange fittings and an operator interface that can be fitted either at the base of the stack or in a control room up to 1 km away.
Data is exported from the sensors via an RS485 link to the interface, with the option to add plug-in modules enabling comms over Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet and ethernet.
The rugged IP66-rated sensors are supplied with stainless steel air purge bodies which, when connected to an airline, serve to protect the optical surfaces from dirt and particulate deposition, prolonging service intervals.
