Halogen-free pipe system

CalAir Pipe Systems has formulated a halogen-free, flame-retardant version of its pipe systems. It retains all the established advantages of polymers "” including good flexibility "” but doesn't lose its strength or pressure capabilities under demanding operational conditions.

The halogen-free formulation opens up new markets for polymer pressure pipe used for compressed air, industrial gases and liquids, for example, as well as for electrical conduit in applications where human life and health may be at risk and high-cost assets are to be protected. These include tunnelling projects and surface and sub-surface building and resource engineering applications, as well as onshore and offshore infrastructure.

Other uses of HFT conduit include applications within safety equipment, such as aspiration systems and air sampling systems that protect against smoke and toxicity.

The piping is available in diameters from 20-110 mm. It is designed for simplified erection, disassembly and recycling. The high-pressure capability of the polymer system overcomes the pressure limitations of PVC systems and expands the OHS and corrosion-free advantages of the lightweight systems into aggressive internal and external infrastructure and industrial environments.

The halogen-free, flame-retardant, low toxicity HFFR and HFT formulations produce no corrosive or toxic flue gases in the event of a fire, making them suitable for high safety applications including subways, tunnels, industrial, commercial and resources infrastructure and construction.

The corrosion-free HFFR and HFT systems are designed for use in critical applications where traditional conduit materials, such as PVC, are not permitted.
