Blast cages for pumps

Monday, 18 August, 2008

Sykes Group has recently developed cages to house and protect pumps used in mining applications from rock fallout during blasting.

As pumping technology improves and ancillary software and devices installed onto pump sets to monitor flow rates, pressure, temperatures, shutdowns and telemetry increase, it is increasingly necessary to protect these items from damage.

Rather than just extend the traditional canopies around pump sets to cover the ancillaries, an integrated system ensures complete protection from fallout of large rocks and debris during blasting.

The cages also act as a deterrent to vandals, as well as shielding the unit from day-to-day damage.
