WorkSafe Victoria investigates coolroom fatality

A 50-year-old transport worker has died in a low-oxygenated coolroom that was being used to preserve apples at a Shepparton warehouse. The worker was found deceased at about 2.30 pm on Wednesday, 15 March after his vehicle was spotted at the workplace, unattended and with the engine running, two hours after he had finished work.

WorkSafe Victoria is investigating the incident. This death is the third workplace fatality of 2023, compared to 11 at the same time last year.
