Weekly mining incident summaries now available for NSW
Weekly incident summaries are now available every Wednesday from NSW Mine Safety, developed to help the NSW mining industry identify the types of health and safety incidents that are occurring within the industry and to improve risk management.
The summary is uploaded to the NSW Department of Industry, Division of Resources & Energy website each week with a new format to better suit reporting arrangements, as not all incidents are reported within a week of the event.
Details will show the total reportable incidents for:
- Level 1 to 3 incidents
- Injuries
- High-potential incidents
- Fatalities
Incidents are categorised as level 1, 2 or 3 according to the seriousness of the incident, with 3 being the most serious. An overview of all level 2 and 3 reportable incidents is also provided, including any incident-related publications released by NSW Mine Safety.
The summary complements the department’s existing range of incident-related information, including e-alerts, safety alerts, safety bulletins, investigation information releases and investigation reports.
