Talking about the impact of workplace injuries

The second phase of WorkSafe Victoria’s major public awareness campaign to share the stories of real Victorian workers discussing workplace health and safety issues was launched on Sunday.

It features stories from Victorian workers from different industries talking about the impact workplace injuries — both physical and mental — have had on their lives.

WorkSafe Chief Executive Clare Amies said the campaign highlighted the importance of mental and physical health, wellbeing and safety in every workplace.

“The Victorian workforce is evolving and the industry mix across the state is constantly changing,” Amies said.

“The concept of work has changed and although the need to keep people safe from physical harm is well known, workplace health and safety must also include the prevention of mental injury.

“This campaign aims to encourage the community to talk about what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour at work.”

Amies said the campaign tagline — “Everyone. Every workplace” — was designed to promote the fact that workplace health and safety is everyone’s responsibility.

“Workplace health and safety must be a priority for all,” she said.

In phase one, which was launched in June, real Victorians were asked to describe what health and safety in the workplace meant to them.

In phase two, you see their reactions as they listen to the true and harrowing tales of injured workers as they describe the impact an injury at work has had on their lives.

The campaign is being shown across major metropolitan and regional television networks, on radio and across outdoor and digital platforms.
