ICTTP2016 conference to tackle global road trauma

Just like the Olympics, the International Conference on Traffic and Transport Psychology (ICTTP) is held every four years, and 2016 will showcase the latest international research, programs, technological innovation and policy to save lives on roads all around the world.

The ICTTP2016 program has been released, which will include four days of oral and poster presentations, symposia and interactive panel sessions. The event, which will run from 2–5 August at the Brisbane Convention Centre, is expected to attract over 300 delegates from more than 40 countries across academia, government, public safety, health and education.

With the theme ‘UN Decade of Action for Road Safety: The Half-way Point’, the conference will provide an update on global developments, together with emerging issues of key geographic regions and at-risk populations relating to:

  • intelligent transport solutions;
  • road infrastructure and design;
  • enforcement and behaviour;
  • sustainable transport;
  • road safety education and marketing;
  • public and commercial transport.

The event will also feature international keynote speakers including: Dr Barry Watson, CEO, Global Road Safety Partnership in Switzerland; Prof David Strayer, Professor of Cognition and Neural Science at the University of Utah; Prof Kazumi Renge, President-elect, IAAP Division of Traffic and Transportation Psychology in Japan; and A/Prof Samuel Charlton, Chair of the School of Psychology, University of Waikato in New Zealand.
