Emerson opens new centres in Singapore
Emerson Process Management has opened two new facilities - the Pervasive Sensing Center of Excellence and an analytical technologies manufacturing and integration centre - in Singapore.
The Pervasive Sensing Center of Excellence enables the company to remotely perform data collection, analysis and consulting for Asia-Pacific customers. These services help the process manufacturing industries meet their operational goals without having to add additional resources, conduct training and manage maintenance procedures for new automation technologies.
“This centre is needed because every day we hear from companies about the challenges of site safety, reliability, security and energy efficiency,” said Sabee Mitra, president of Emerson Process Management Asia Pacific. “The process industries often don’t have the resources or expertise to adopt new technologies that are critical to keeping their plants up and running. Our centre will create solutions that will help customers globally address these challenges and operate more efficiently and profitably.”
Emerson is working with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to provide pervasive sensing pilot projects, training and testing capabilities for companies, as well as educational opportunities for students. The company is currently working with major facilities on Jurong Island with the intent of reinforcing the island’s reputation as the location for some of the safest, most productive and energy-efficient industrial facilities in the world.
With support from the EBD, Emerson has also opened its first manufacturing and integration centre in Asia for its Rosemount Analytical technologies, which are widely used in the oil and gas production and petrochemical industries. The centre produces and distributes analytical and combustion sensors, engineers and designs complete analyser-based solutions, and develops customer-specific systems and products.
The design, engineering and fabrication of integrated solutions for analysers and sample handling systems at the centre commenced in November. Applications include process gas, natural gas, and continuous emission monitoring and steam water analysis systems. The centre’s team includes engineering, quality control and information technology professionals.
Manufacturing will be operational by early 2015 for key analytical instrumentation products to serve the Asia-Pacific and other markets. The integration centre also stocks products and spares to ensure faster service to customers across the region. Life cycle service capabilities will be available including local failure analysis, repair and warranty evaluation services, and factory-certified product and system training.
