Bovis Lend Lease employee wins OHS excellence award

Thursday, 04 November, 2010

ACT Attorney General Simon Corbell recently presented the Safe Work ACT Excellence Award for 2010 to James Bodsworth from Bovis Lend Lease.

Bodsworth beat a strong field of entries from both the public and private sector vying for the award. The Excellence Award was chosen from the category winners in this year's health and safety awards in recognition of outstanding achievement.

The Awards are the highlight of Safe Work ACT Month, a month-long safety awareness campaign coordinated by WorkSafe ACT. Thirty-four entries were received across six award categories ranging from small and large, private and public workplaces, and from industries including construction, health, hospitality and not for profit.

In presenting the awards, Corbell said: “The annual OHS awards provide recognition for the achievements of business, unions and individuals in the ACT in finding solutions to improve workplace safety and injury management.

“Entries have included complex OHS management systems, creative and innovative design solutions, outstanding individual contributions and excellent health and wellbeing programs.

“It is pleasing to see the strong support from the local health and safety community for these awards. Regardless of whether they have received an award, all of this year's entries contribute to making workplaces healthier and safer.

“I encourage all ACT businesses to look at this year's entries to see how specific workplace health and safety issues are being addressed, and how readily practical and effective solutions are found.”
