SAFETYconnect program launched — mock trial, international keynote highlights
Australia’s peak WHS body, the NSCA Foundation, has today launched the conference program for the inaugural SAFETYconnect (previously National Safety Conference) event, to be held in Sydney in August.
The two-day, two-stream (WHS Management and Industrial Safety) program features local and international safety experts, covering the hottest topics in the sector. Highlights include a mock trial conducted by Sparke Helmore Lawyers, a global keynote from IOSH immediate past president Karen McDonnell and a local keynote from 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Manager Health and Safety Stephen Woolger.
This year’s mock trial is a fictional case about high-voltage work. It’s a situation that can just as easily be translated to apply to other work and machinery — a fall from height or a crush injury from a piece of equipment.
Sparke Helmore’s interactive court simulation will provide insight into the prosecution process and what happens when a worker, supervisor and manager are called as witnesses, as well as highlight important legal issues.
SAFETYconnect will be held from 16–17 August at Rosehill Gardens, Sydney.
Registrations for the conference are now open at www.safety-connect.com.au, with early-bird discounts available for a limited time.
