The 422L SafeZone Multizone safety laser scanner is the latest addition to the Allen-Bradley Guardmaster suite of machine safety products.
Featuring two pairs of configurable detection fields, each consisting of a safety and a warning zone, the SafeZone Multizone offers reliable and flexible personnel and equipment protection.
Certified for both vertical and horizontal guarding applications, the SafeZone Multizone features a 'safety zone' that spans a scan angle of 190° over a 5 m range. SafeZone Multizone offers configurable resolutions of between 30 to 150 mm, protecting a wide range of both stationary and mobile applications.
The SafeZone Multizone is a Type 3 opto-electronic device that protects personnel or equipment by detecting objects or persons in its sensing field. Operating on the 'time of flight' principle, the SafeZone Multizone emits pulses of eye-safe infrared laser light over a 190° arc, then receives and processes the light reflected from intruding objects in the sensing field to determine the position and distance of the object. When an object is detected, the SafeZone Multizone sends a stop signal to the protected machine.
Configuration of the SafeZone Multizone's two pairs of configurable detection fields is quick and easy through the use of Windows-based SCD software supplied with each SafeZone Multizone. The 'safety zone' is configurable for a 5 m range over 190°, while the 'warning zone' can be set for up to a 49 m radius (depending on the object's reflectivity). SafeZone Multizone offers user-selectable resolutions of 30, 40, 50, 70 and 150 mm, as well as multiple sampling options, ensuring that the laser scanner can address the widest range of plant floor point of operation, area guarding or access detection applications.
