The annual Automate exhibition will be held for the 18th year running, but for the first time will be presented under the new name Manufacturing Technology InFocus (MTech).

Past years have seen Automate run concurrently with other shows such as Austronics and Electrix and the new name has been incorporated as an umbrella to draw all exhibitions together under the one brand.

MTech will run from 17-19 October at the Melbourne Exhbition and Convention Centre and also incorporates designated feature zones for ICEX, CIMworld, FluidX and Instrumentation and Control.

A new feature, Innovation InFocus will showcase innovative products, services and technologies from Australian companies.

Exhibition director, John Psalidas told Safety Solutions: "There is no change to the show concept but we will be going out to the marketplace using the umbrella title Manufacturing Technology InFocus which we think encapsulates Austronics, Automate and Electrix plus ICEX, CIMworld and FluidX and all the elements of this event."

"As over 70% of visitors that attend are interested in visiting more than one exhibition, it provides them with a cost-effective opportunity to discover new products in their industry without the need to attend multiple industry events."

Automate will showcase manufacturing technology for safety systems, sensors and guarding equipment, as well as robotics, consultancy services, assembly and automation equipment.

This year's event will see more than 250 exhibitors from Australia, as well as an international contingent that includes China, India, New Zealand, Oman, Singapore, Pakistan, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Exhibitors that will be featuring technology with a safety focus include: Agilent Technologies, Emona Instruments, Farnell InOne, Millsom Hoists, National Instruments (Australia), Novaris and Pilz-Safe Automation.

Details are still to be released regarding the series of free keynotes and seminars that will be held in a theatre on the show floor throughout the event.
