The search is again on to find those individuals and organisations whose innovation and commitment to workplace health and safety can be officially recognised and shared with others. They are being encouraged to enter this year's WorkSafe Victoria Awards.

"If you have come up with an innovative solution that reduces workplace injuries or illness - or if you've developed a program or driven an activity aimed at improving occupational health and safety - we want to know who you are," said WorkSafe Victoria Executive Director, John Merritt. Now in their 16th year, the WorkSafe Victoria Awards are among Australia's premier workplace health and safety recognition schemes.

Merritt said the Awards gave innovative and dedicated individuals and organisations the recognition they deserved. "In the past, the ideas put forward have inspired other workplaces to develop and implement their own initiatives. This is the opportunity for Victorian workplaces to share the best practice solutions and ideas that the Awards identify. Meeting the legal requirements of workplace safety is one thing. What we want to do through the WorkSafe Awards is identify high-calibre solutions that have eliminated or greatly minimised risk.

"They may be simple or complex, but they need to address physical hazards or issues such as bullying, stress, health and general wellbeing." The Awards are open to small, medium and large businesses, employers, supervisors, employees, health and safety representatives, health and safety committee members, self-employed persons, and organisations that use volunteers.
