Electrical trades safety footwear

Tuesday, 09 June, 2009 | Supplied by: Oliver Footwear

Oliver style 33611 is a hi-vis, low-cut, jogger-style shoe with a Natureform safety toecap designed for tradespeople with a certified electrical performance.

The electrical performance of the shoe is tested and certified by a NATA-registered laboratory for its electrical shock resistance under a method which requires that the footwear “shall be capable of withstanding the application of 18,000 V at 60 Hz for 1 min with no current flow or leakage current in excess of 1.0 mA under dry conditions”.

Note that standards authorities warn that electrically insulating footwear cannot guarantee 100% protection from electric shock and additional measures to avoid this risk are essential.
