Coverall for asbestos protection

The DuPont Tyvek Classic Xpert is a chemical protection suit, Category III, Type 5-B and 6-B. The design and construction provides a high protection barrier against airborne particles, making it suitable for applications that require protection from exposure to asbestos.

In order to avoid cross-contamination (ie, when asbestos fibres are attached to a person’s skin or underwear and carried to uncontaminated places, released and then inhaled), protective coveralls must provide a high barrier against airborne particles (Category III, Type 5).

The EN ISO 13982-2: 2004 Standard (Type 5) measures Average Total Inward Leakage (TILa) of fine particles into suits. The Tyvek Classic Xpert provides 15 times better protection than the Type 5 standard.

Thanks to the non-woven structure of Tyvek, which forms a durable barrier against airborne particles and many water-based inorganic chemicals, barrier performance will remain intact even if the outer layers become abraded in places. It is also lightweight and soft, as well as permeable to both air and water vapour, providing a high level of wear comfort. The smooth surface and antistatic treatment prevents particles from adhering to the coverall.

Other features include: sleeve design prevents sleeves from riding up when working overhead; optimised three-piece hood design for tight fit around the face; elasticised face, wrists and ankles for tight fit; Tyvek  zipper with flap for enhanced protection; and overall ergonomic shape for good fit and protection when moving.
