Purple Boot Brigade launches national education campaign

Thursday, 05 February, 2009

A new online national education campaign has been launched by the ‘The Purple Boot Brigade’ thanks to the support and funds raised by Steel Blue’s sponsorship of the Breast Cancer Foundation of WA Inc (BCFWA).

The ‘Breast iQ’ quiz tests participants’ knowledge about breast cancer and encourages them to ‘be breast aware’ — we know early detection saves lives.

“Steel Blue’s Purple Boot campaign has created a phenomenal buzz in the community across Australia,” states Ros Worthington OAM, Founder and Patron of BCFWA. “The 10,000+ ‘foot soldiers’ in purple boots have already provided over $300,000 in funding for national education and support initiatives.”

The ongoing support of the Brigade has also resulted in a new online community eager to help spread the word via the latest online social networking media.

Steel Blue’s support of the Brigade has allowed the team to harness new technologies and attract a wide range of age groups in attempts to increase the community’s understanding of breast cancer issues. Online communication has the potential for providing a range of education and support services across the community, in particular for those in remote and regional areas.
