The ESS Gecko Ground Vibration Logger is an easy-to-use simple sensor and data recorder, suitable for ground vibration and blast monitoring. It has a triaxial (east-west, north-south, up-down) velocity sensor which allows recording of peak amplitudes of almost 700 mm/s and frequencies up to 1600 Hz. It is available to rent from TechRentals.
The sensor has an output of 28.8 V/m/s and the recorder has an input range of ±20 V at a gain of x1. The recorder has three channels with simultaneous sampling, 32-bit ADC per channel, internal GPS receiver for clock timing and a dynamic range of 146 dB at 40 sps.
Other features include an LCD screen and keypad for full configuration, audible and visual alarms, and continuous data storage directly to an SD card. The unit generates small files in MiniSEED format and is capable of recording three channels for up to a year at 100 sps.
