Forklift safety training for inspectors

Tuesday, 19 December, 2006

An informal information session on forklift safety in the workplace was held recently for WorkSafe Victoria's trainee inspectors.

The session was a joint initiative by Toyota Material Handling and WorkSafe Vic to provide the new inspectors with specialist knowledge on forklifts and their operational capacity.

"The session is designed to give them a better understanding of logistical issues and common situations involving forklifts," operations manager at Toyota, Mick McGary said.

The session covered topics such as safe load capacities, lift heights and forklift technology.

"We also make them aware of ways to better identify potential safety incidents, as part of their role is to help provide safety solutions as well as inspecting sites," McGary said.
