Australian Freight Industry Awards
The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) hosted the 2008 Australian Freight Industry Awards on 13 September, with over 1200 guests attending the event at the Melbourne Convention Centre.
The awards are designed to reward excellence and to raise the standards and public perception of the Australian freight and logistics industry.
Safety is an important aspect of transport and logistics, and the awards recognised Toll Auto Logistics for its innovative approach to safety, awarding it with the Australian Best Practice Safety Award.
The award, sponsored by QBE, recognises the most innovative and practical safety solution in the workplace in any mode of freight and logistics.
Toll Auto Logistics developed the Flatpack 8-Car vehicle transporter to minimise restricted access when loading and unloading vehicles and offer safety to drivers to work at minimum height. The Flatpack is now arguably one of the safest and most efficient vehicle transporters operating.
Toll Auto Logistics won the award from the point of view of sustainable safety outcomes, based on good design and thorough consultation with the workforce.
