The Portable Traffic Light (PTL) from Madison Technologies is approved for use on state roads by Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). It is also compliant with the latest standard MRTS 264 Type 1 Portable Traffic Signal System. TMR created specifications around these devices to safely remove traffic controllers from the roadside in high speed zones.

The portable traffic signal system has been designed as a safer alternative to STOP/SLOW signs, with easy set-up and operation, requiring minimal training. The PTL uses smart and innovative technology, making it efficient for traffic controllers to use.

Its features include safety interlocks with ‘all red’ signal on faults and operating modes including Shuttle Control and Gating. The PTL comes with adjustable tripod legs to enhance stability in a range of terrains, with a 2.7” LCD screen with backlight for night-time operation on HRC. The PTL also comes with a lightweight master controller with backlit LCD display and heat-swappable batteries for disruption-free operation. It also features extensive built-in safety features and interlocks, such as GPS location, compass direction and tilt warnings. A quick fit target board provides higher visibility, while IP65 enclosures keep out moisture and dust.
