Two dead in separate workplace incidents

Two people have died in separate workplace incidents over the span of 48 hours. A 24-year-old man died while operating an electric utility cart at the Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market in Epping on 2 August 2021. It is believed the man drove into a parked truck at approximately 5.30 am.

On 31 July 2021, a 57-year-old man died while working alone, collecting a skip bin from a residential property at St Albans. The man’s truck is believed to have rolled forward, crushing him against a brick wall at approximately 8.30 am. WorkSafe Victoria is investigating both incidents.
