New national safety campaigns
In Perth last week, Australian and New Zealand workplace safety authorities discussed current national safety campaigns and set campaign priorities for the year ahead.
The Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA) agreed on three new campaigns to be pursued in the coming financial year. These include: prevention of calls in construction " implementation of a code of practice; manual handling and slips, trips and falls in hospitals; and guarding machinery in manufacturing.
The HWSA includes senior executive officers from Commonwealth, state and territory, and New Zealand workplace safety authorities.
Planning for these campaigns is currently underway.
