Roxar subsea Wetgas meter

The Roxar subsea Wetgas meter from Emerson Process Management is designed to help protect subsea well and pipeline integrity, enabling accurate production measurement, reduced risk and improved flow assurance in gas and gas condensate fields.

The wet gas meter allows early detection of water from gas wells to deal with the big challenges of offshore gas producers, such as hydrates, corrosion, scaling and water coning in the reservoir as a result of water breaking through. The product comes with good water sensitivity, accuracy and rapid response, as well as a built-in salinity measurement system, which lets reservoir engineers know when water enters the flow.

The meter’s microwave-based measurements and multivariate analysis functionality are operational in all field conditions and fluid compositions. The product is highly sensitive and can detect changes in water content of the flowing well at 0.2 ppm (parts per million).

The product generates an uncertainty specification of ±0.02% abs WVF (water volume fraction) at GVF (gas void fraction) 99-100%. It provides real-time hydrocarbon measurement for operators’ fiscal allocation obligations. This is due to the meter’s multivariate analysis functionality and three-phase measurement based on a microwave and gamma densitometer. The multivariate analysis functionality also provides PVT (pressure, volume, temperature) independence on water fractions - especially in high GVF flows.

The meter also has measurement speeds at 20 times/s, enabling immediate actions to be taken to protect subsea system integrity and maintain flow assurance.
