Vertical lifeline system

The DBI-Sala Mastsayf Flexible Cable System provides a fall protection solution for persons climbing electrical and telecommunications towers.

The system mounts to the tower using the existing climbing bolts, while intermediate brackets with pass-through capability that clamp to the tower leg and climbing bolts allow users to climb the length of the system without needing to detach from the cable. No drilling or welding to the structure is required.

The system, which is suitable for up to four users, utilises sleeves that prevent falls by locking onto the cable. The sleeve, when connected to the system’s cable and the user’s full body harness (front fall arrest D-ring) via a karabiner, provides hands-free operation while limiting free falls to a maximum of 600 mm in the event of a fall. It is easily attached or removed anywhere along the cable using a deliberate double-action locking mechanism and automatically follows as the wearer climbs or descends.

The system, which features galvanised top and bottom brackets and stainless steel cable and intermediate brackets, can be set up permanently or as a temporary vertical climbing system that can be removed and reinstalled on other towers.
