Fireworks dangers media conference
The consumer fireworks sale period commences on Monday 5 June in the lead up to the Queens birthday long weekend on 10, 11 and 12 June.
The ACT community needs to be aware of the dangers posed by the misuse of fireworks and the strict laws relating to their sale, use and possession.
ACT Policing and ACT WorkCover will conduct a media conference on Thursday 1 June to heighten public awareness of the community's obligations in relation to fireworks, the issues that arise and the measures required to protect children and pets.
The conference will be addressed by Audrey Fagan, ACT chief police officer and Erich Janssen, ACT WorkCover commissioner.
It will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, 1 June 2006 ACT WorkCover, 4th Floor Eclipse House, 197 London Circuit, Canberra City.
