Methane analyser for engines

Tuesday, 22 January, 2008 | Supplied by: Ampcontrol Electronics

Austech Instruments has custom designed a methane analyser for monitoring the concentration of methane fed to engine modules, particularly those installed in power stations supplied by landfill waste gas or coal seam methane.

The analyser is accurate and stable - importantly, it is not cross-sensitive to other hydrocarbons, which is essential in applications where its output is integral for the measurement of greenhouse gas abatement. The analyser can also be used for safety shutdown functions.

Housed within an Australian Certified Exd enclosure, the analyser can be positioned in the hazardous area close to the fuel rail to shorten the sample line and maximise measurement speed.

The product comes with a local display, 4-20 mA output and is available with optional relay outputs.

When integrated with Austech's sample conditioning system, the methane analyser can be tailored to each site's specific conditions and environment. The company provides a complete package including system design, panel construction, installation, commissioning and ongoing calibration services.
