Micro gas chromatograph

The Micro gas chromatograph rapidly determines the calorific value of natural gas. The device is suitable for custody transfer of natural gas, such as pipeline monitoring, gas transfer and distribution stations, gas liquefaction and regasification of LNG terminals.

The compact device has a rugged, explosion-proof housing and is suitable for use in conditions from -20 to +55°C. It can be mounted directly next to natural gas pipelines and delivers measuring results in less than 3 mins.

The chromatograph can determine the calorific value, Wobbe index and density of the gas. The accuracy of the measurement is independent of the pressure of the sample and the ambient temperature. A display on the device shows the measured results.

The device uses miniaturised detectors and valves made with MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) technology, which minimises the amount of carrier gas and electricity consumed. The detectors are highly linear, so only one calibration gas is needed. Measurement components are methane up to nonane, N₂ and CO₂. Up to four sample streams can be measured successively. The detection limit for pentane and higher hydrocarbons is between 10 and 50 ppm. The Windows-based software is user-friendly, simple and clear. A password protection system prevents unauthorised access to the device's parameters and results of analysis, while a logbook documents all alarms and events.
