Truck accident occurs at Mount Arthur mine
Inspectors from the NSW Resources Regulator are investigating an incident that occurred on 13 April 2020 at the Mount Arthur mine near Muswellbrook in NSW. A haul truck was reversing into a dump corner when the edge of the dump collapsed, causing the truck to end up in a 45° angle over the edge of the dump. The operator could not escape, and it took five hours to complete the rescue operation. The operator was provided onsite medical aid but did not suffer any significant injuries.
A notice has been issued to the mine operator prohibiting further use of the dump. The NSW Resources Regulator will provide no further comment while the investigation is underway. More information will be provided in the NSW Resources Regulator’s weekly incident summary publication.
