TransGrid annual safety day
Over 100 people from 21 teams across NSW competed in a variety of safety-oriented events at TransGrid’s Annual Safety Day at Horsley Park on September 18.
TransGrid is responsible for the high-voltage electricity transmission network in NSW, comprising over 12,000 km of high voltage transmission lines and substations.
In its 51st year, TransGrid’s Safety Day included events in vital emergency response and risk assessment disciplines, as well as displays of TransGrid’s own safety equipment and initiatives, proven to eliminate and reduce safety risk in the workplace.
Representatives from TransGrid’s 950 staff put their skills to the test against colleagues in first aid, fire fighting and risk assessment competitions. As well as promoting a positive safety culture, staff were given the opportunity to put their skills into action.
The NSW Fire Brigade was on hand to judge teams as they battled a controlled fire, while representatives from WorkCover were present as actors to simulate various injuries, creating confronting challenges for competitors.
