Safe Work Australia investigates MSDs and shift worker injuries
Two publications about work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and workplace injuries have been released by Safe Work Australia.
The ‘Statistics on work-related musculoskeletal disorders’ report provides information on compensation claims by workers for MSDs, including trends by occupation and industry.
In a separate publication, Safe Work Australia has also examined work-related injury rates for shift and non-shift workers. The report, ‘A comparison of work-related injuries among shiftworkers and non-shiftworkers’, analyses the characteristics and outcomes of work-related injuries between shift workers and non-shift workers. It found that the injury rate for shift workers was more than two times higher than the injury rate for non-shift workers.
Both reports can be viewed on the Safe Work Australia website.
