Occupational safety in transport conference

OSIT2014: The 2nd International Occupational Safety in Transport Conference will be a multidisciplinary event featuring representatives from road and transport safety, aviation and watercraft, fleets, safety culture and management, construction safety and associated fields.

Themes will be varied and cover topics such as:

  • Transport, safety culture and management;
  • Technology for the improvement of safety, systems and behaviour;
  • Transport-related impairments and return-to-work assessment processes;
  • Industry, logistics and transport safety risk;
  • Developing and evaluating safety programs; and
  • Transport safety innovations, challenges and opportunities.

Designed to encourage a strong program of both industry and academic presentations, keynote speakers will be drawn from both Australia and overseas, and bring new and innovative research and practice to the conference. Professor Ann Williamson, director of the Transport and Road Safety (TARS) Research Group, University of New South Wales is OSIT’s first confirmed keynote speaker. Ann’s research focus is in the area of human factors, primarily focusing on two related areas: the effects of fatigue and the role of human error in injury and safety.

The conference is suitable for: fleet managers/coordinators, WHS officers, researchers and practitioners, policy and process developers, engineers, vehicle manufacturers, government representatives, technology manufacturers and developers, and transport logistics and operations specialists.
