Information sessions for roadside workers to be held in Queensland
A number of workers have died or suffered serious injuries from being struck by motor vehicles or moving plant while working on public roads to perform roadwork activities.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, in conjunction with Transport and Main Roads, is offering free information sessions throughout Queensland to workers working on or near public roads.
The purpose of this campaign is to increase stakeholder awareness of the risks associated with worker safety on or near public roads, measure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation associated with worker safety on or near public roads, and identify emerging issues within the traffic control industry that contribute to the occurrence of incidents.
The information sessions are aimed at general construction and civil construction principal contractors, subcontractors, utility providers and local government agencies that employ persons working on or near roads, and organisations that provide traffic control services for contract.
